Donard

Donard is located in the heart of the Glen of Imaal, with many outdoors activities and amazing heritage.  Donard takes its name from Dún Ard – High Fort – which ruins can still be somewhat visible above the town.

Donard is an ideal location to discover many trails through the many hill surrounding the village such as Table Mountain (702m), Church Mountain (546m), Lugnaquilla (924m) and Keadeen (655m).  Discover here 5000 years of history with burial tombs older than the pyramids in Ireland and ancient places of worship.  Get on the footsteps of the legendary Michael Dwyer, local leader during the 1798 rebellion
