Blessington
Blessington is one of the biggest towns in West Wicklow. Beside the Blessington Lakes and the Wicklow Mountains, Blessington is steeped in history. Around every corner there are buildings, statues, and relics of the past staring back at you. Some of the more noticeable features include the Credit Union House, Downshire Monument, Saint Mary’s Church of Ireland, and the Horseshoe Arch, all of which are found in the centre of town.

As Gaeilge, the name is Sliabh an Chodaigh, meaning "mountain of the covenant" - at the summit you'll find what remains of an ancient pagan cairn, upon which a small church is said to have been built later by St. Kevin, in the 6th Century.
Pilgrims traditionally climbed the mountain to visit a holy well during the festival of Lughnasa, marking the beginning of the harvest season.
The mountain is 544 metres high and is located about halfway between Hollywood and Donard villages. From the top, you'll be rewarded by stunning views of the lakes and countryside below!
