We would recommend everyone to try the Wicklow Passport. You get off the beaten path and get to places you would have otherwise passed by.
During their recent family trip to Ireland from Germany, Karolina and Jonas took on the Wicklow Passport challenge and completed it with enthusiasm. We spoke with our new ambassadors to understand more about their journey and to gather insights into their adventure.
How did you first hear about the Wicklow Passport?
I had researched on visitwicklow.ie and read about the Wicklow Passport. I was sure they would collect the stamps with enthusiasm and that it would be a great vacation experience.
What made you take on the challenge?
We stayed at the Old Rectory in Donard. Our host told us that you could become a Wicklow Ambassador by collecting 15 or more stamps. This sparked the ambition of Karolina and Jonas and they were determined to collect the 15 stamps.
What was your best experience while taking part in the Wicklow Passport campaign?
Very difficult to say. We had a fantastic time at the Old Rectory. The trips to Blessington and Hollywood, a beautiful hike in Glendalough, and the great tree top walk in Avondale were top vacation experiences.
What did you least enjoy?
We can not say anything negative. We enjoyed everything.
Do you have any recommendations for others interested in taking on a similar adventure?
Is there anything that you would do differently if you could start your adventure over again?
We came from Dublin and missed the Bray and Greystones area. Next time we would make a stop there.
Overall, did you enjoy the challenge?
Yes, we liked it very much. Karolina and Jonas were even able to practice a little English when they asked for the stamps.
What is your next adventure?
We will spend our next vacation in the southwest of Germany and climb some mountains there on foot or by cable car.
