Tinahely

Tinahely is a market town in the valley of the Derry River, a tributary of the River Slaney. Destroyed in the 1798 Rebellion, the town was rebuilt in the early 1800’s by Earl Fitzwilliam and thrived as a market town. The old Market / Courthouse occupies the centre of the square and the thriving Courthouse Arts Centre is just opposite. Hosting musical performances, exhibitions, theatre and film, this is truly a rural cultural gem. Tinahely is also part of the Wicklow Way route which is a 132 km (82 miles) Way-Marked Way and which follows a North-South line over the eastern flanks of the Wicklow Mountains.
