Pickup from an agreed location in Dublin and transfer to the “Garden County”, which is just south of Dublin and within half an hour of the city, you can be in wilderness!
Photo stop in Enniskerry Village – a typical estate village, laid out by Viscount Powerscourt, and one of the nicest in Ireland. You can even see an old fashioned phone box here!
Visit Powerscourt Gardens (National Geographic Magazine rated them No 3 in the world!) and tour the gardens (admission charge) and hear the fascinating history of this great estate.
Drive through the National Park to Glencree Centre – a former army barracks, reformatory and now a Peace and Reconcilliation Centre, deep in the mountains. Unexpectedly, there is a German War Cemetery close by, which we will also visit.
Lakes! On this tour you will see many lakes, formed by the last ice age, and if you are a photographer, you will be happy…
See the locations for famous movies and series – PS I love you, Vikings, Excalibur, Braveheart and many more. Wicklow has been the backdrop for over 300 movies, so far, and there are many more in production at the moment – we might even see some filming…..
Stop off at the renowned “Guinness Lake”. Lough Tay lies in a stunning private estate in the heart of the National Park and the deep dark peaty waters and white sandy beach remind people of a pint of the dark stuff! There is a fascinating history attached to this estate, and as a local, she will give you the low down!
Glendalough – the valley of the two lakes, is stunning! St Kevin founded a monastery here in the 6th century and it was a major centre of learning for many centuries. Today you can tour the ruins, walk up to the two lakes, and if you were a hiker, you could enjoy some stunning trails around the valley.

If you had an interest in farming, and if there was something interesting happening on the family farm, a visit could be incorporated into the day. Another option is to stop off at the regular sheep dog demonstrations, held daily, close to Glendalough (additional charge for this)
We should also make time for coffee/lunch/refreshments at some of the lovely establishments in this area – She can advise you of the options on the day.
