‘Do it! It’s lots of fun’
During a recent trip from England, Laura completed her Wicklow Passport adventure, collecting 15 stamps from across Wicklow. Laura’s journey took her to a range of destinations throughout the county, including Glendalough, Greystones, & Enniskerry. We caught up with Laura to learn more about her experience exploring Wicklow and gain additional insight for future Ambassadors.
How did you first hear about the Wicklow Passport?
We were searching TikTok for places to visit around where we were staying and found the Wicklow Passport!
What motivated you to take on the challenge?
We love to explore new places when we travel and this was an added bonus with something fun to do each day.
It made us look at more places along our route.
Can you share your favourite memory from your Wicklow
Passport experience?
The outstanding beauty of Glendalough. We visited on a cold, sunny day and the water was so blue and the trees were full of autumnal colours.
We also found that Greystones was so friendly, and spent a fabulous afternoon on the beach. We chased the sea and played in the sand. It was another sunny but cold day and the experience was magical.
I loved all of the places we visited, whether for a little while or a full day.
What advice would you give to others who are interested in participating in a similar adventure?
Do it! It’s lots of fun.
The people in the shops and venues loved talking to us about places we had been.
If you had the chance to do your Wicklow Passport adventure all over again, what would you change?
I would spend longer in Enniskerry. It was such a beautiful place.
I realised afterward that it was featured in one of my favourite films, Leap Year.
What was your overall impression of the Wicklow Passport challenge?
It was wonderful, and helpful to find places to visit!
