Athgreany is a picturesque circle of 16 grey granite stones and an outlier. Some of these pillars and boulders are up to two meters high and enclose an area of about twenty two meters across.
These type of tall stones features are common to circles close to Kildare – Wicklow border. Just to the north of the circle is the single standing stone or outlier. Legend relates that this outlying stone and the circle area relate to piper and his dancers, petrified in stone for violating the Sabbath.
The bronze Age Stone circle is situated just 1 km south of Hollywood.
