Opening over a decade ago, Walled Gardens of Russborough was formerly an old walled garden. Now, it has been beautifully restored by volunteers. The garden has a wide range of herbaceous plants – apple trees, strawberries, vegetables et al. Cultivated to make jams and food, generating income for the family-run house. Russborough also has an impressive array of art collectibles connected to various local art, sport, and music events.
National Botanic Gardens – Rathdrum
Around the ruins of a fine Queen Anne style house lie 52 acres of wild Robinsonian gardens. Began in 1712 and further expanded with the advice of the Directors of the Botanic Gardens in Dublin during the 19th Century. Rare trees and shrubs abound. The arboretum is now being replanted by the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin.
