Soprano Rebecca goes to China but wakes up in Wicklow
Rebecca Winkworth is just back from NY, and is jetting off to China
A Winckworth is as good as a nod? Acclaimed Irish soprano Rebecca Winckworth can explain that phrase to the locals when she gets to China next week. (Let’s hope Rebecca doesn’t try to explain, while she’s at it, the meaning of The Faces’ album A Nod Is As Good As a Wink… to a Blind Horse.) The Wicklow chanteuse is performing at the China International Folk Art Festival as part of the Titanic Dance Act.
Indeed, Air Miles Rebecca and her model sister Danielle are just back from a trip to New York. The two girls and their mother Sari have also recently set up their Wicklow-based bed linen company ‘White & Green Cotton’, which, Rebecca tells me, was inspired by the breathtaking Wicklow landscape.
“As a family growing up in beautiful Co Wicklow we lived an outdoor, organic lifestyle and we always shared a passion for a great night’s sleep and waking up in Wicklow!”
Stop me before I turn into the public relations spin doctor for Wicklow Tourism, but this is precisely why Rebecca is getting behind Visit Wicklow’s tourism campaign #WakeupInWicklow – www.visitwicklow.ie – which “encourages people to stay overnight in the Garden of Ireland rather than just doing a day trip.
