This is probably one of the most challenging itinerary so far, where Deric enjoyed a couple of days filled with strong outdoor activities, food, drinks and beautiful hospitality. The itinerary included mountain biking on day one to warm up the legs and day two was all about climbing Lugnaquilla, Wicklow highest mountain, and the highest mountain outside of Kerry!!! It was not all hardcore though, and part of the trip included plenty great local food, and overnight in a unique location with furry friends ;-). See below the full itinerary.
Day 1: Mountains Biking, Brewery Tour & Great Food
Breakfast at Fisher’s
No day can start without a good Breakfast! Fisher’s of Newtownmountkennedy is probably most known as one of Ireland’s most prestigious clothes shop, but recently, they have opened indoors and outdoor dining facilities, and offer Brunch or Lunch and many delicious treats!

Mountain Biking at Ballinastoe with Biking.ie
Ballinastoe offers one of Ireland largest network dedicated to mountain biking. Located on-site, Biking.ie offers bike rentals, mountain bike lessons and great coffee.
Lunch at the Coach House
Located in Roundwood, the Coach House is an award winning Pub and Restaurant offering a large variety of foods and drinks. The Coach House also offers B&B accommodation and is an ideal base for outdoor activity enthusiasts.
Wicklow Wolf Brewery Tour
The beer brewed at Wicklow Wolf Brewery have gained reputation all over Ireland and beyond for their great taste. Wicklow Wolf have also done a tremendous work towards sustainability and grow their own hops in Wicklow. There are regular tours of the brewery showcasing the beer making process and beer tasting.

K2 Alpaca has just opened a few high quality self catering units in the middle of the Alpaca farm. High up on the hills above Newtownmountkennedy, the views and furry company make it a great location to spend the night.

Day 2: Climb Lugnaquilla!
Breakfast at Glenmalure Lodge
The Glenmalure Lodge is located right in the middle of the Glenmalure glacier valley. The lodge offers year round great food and accommodation for the many hikers walking the many mountains and trails around the valley, including the Wicklow Way and of course, Lugnaquilla
Up Lugnaquilla with Adventure.ie
Standing at 925m Lugnaquilla or Lug as it’s better known, is the highest mountain in Ireland outside of Kerry. Although incredibly rewarding for its views over the Wicklow Mountains and beyond, Lugnaquilla has no marked trail to reach its summit. It is strongly advised to use the services of an experienced mountain guide to get you there, and today, Cindy from Adventure.ie is our mountain leader
Recovery Dinner at Wicklow Heather
The Wicklow Heather is located in the village of Laragh and offers a gourmet experience in tasteful surroundings. The Wicklow Heather is also unique for its collection of early editions of books by great Irish writers including Yeats or Joyce.
