“We made some lovely memories”
Louisa and Boris began their Wicklow Passport adventure in 2022. Having proudly collected 17 stamps during the summer of 2023, they recently completed their journey and officially became Wicklow Ambassadors! In our recent interview, we caught up with Louisa & Boris to discover more about their exciting experiences exploring Ireland’s Garden County!
How did you first hear about the Wicklow Passport?
I first heard about the Wicklow Passport from my friend after we walked part of the Wicklow Way together.
She bought one for me, my other friend and herself for Christmas 2021.
I then told Boris about it and he wanted one as well!
What motivated you to take on the challenge?
At the start I was competing against my friends!
Then afterwards I enjoyed visiting places in Wicklow I hadn’t visited before.
Boris was happy to accompany me. It was a fun thing to do as a couple and a nice way to spend time outdoors.
Can you share your favorite / most unforgettable memory from your Wicklow Passport experience?
We really enjoyed our visit to Avoca and Aughrim in November 2022.
We saw the Meeting of the Waters, had lunch in the Woodenbridge Hotel, and visited the town of Avoca and the original Avoca mill.
Then, we stayed a night at the Brooklodge Hotel in Macreddin. We were lucky to have good weather that weekend.
What advice would you give to others who are interested in participating in a similar adventure?
Go to places that are close to each other. You can collect 2 or 3 stamps in 1 day if you plan your journey well.
For example, we went to Rathdrum and Wicklow Town in the same day.
If you had the chance to do your Wicklow Passport adventure all over again, what would you change?
I don’t think we would change anything! We were happy with the way we planned our trips.
What was your overall impression of the Wicklow Passport challenge?
It took some time but it was worth it.
We got to see a lot of Wicklow, different scenery, and we made some lovely memories.
What is your next adventure?
Our next adventure is a 3 week trip to Peru and Bolivia in January and February!
Next year we are also planning to visit more places in Ireland that we haven’t visited before such as Galway, Donegal and Clare.
