The Wicklow Mountain Range is the largest upland region in Ireland and rises to a formidable 925m at Lugnaquillia peak, There is an opportunity to appreciate Ireland’s rich natural flora and fauna and a number of unique habitats, you will learn the folklore of the area, listen to stories of people and characters that lived here and perhaps still live here
You may spend 3 to 10 days or more walking the Wicklow Way and other remote paths in the uplands and rarely meet another person, yet you are less than 35 minutes by road from your base at “Lough Dan House”, or nearby accommodation
The advantage of a permanent base for your walking holiday is obvious; You don’t pack and unpack every day, clothes and boots are dry and fresh each morning, no transferring luggage, or bags getting lost, laundry and drying room always available, delicious and exciting meals served each evening at a time to suit you. And most important of all you get time to meet the local people, to really know your hosts and their families and the country, and go home feeling that you were not just passing by, but were really part of the community for a short while and will be welcome back as such another time another day.
