‘County Wicklow offers wonderful opportunities for anglers of every level. Wild Brown Trout are plentiful in the rivers, streams and lakes that flow off the Wicklow Mountain’s. At Loughdan House we offer Fly Fishing Holidays on two superb wild trout fisheries located in the Wicklow Mountains 30 minutes south of Dublin city centre.
Populated with free rising wild brown trout both are unique waters, Lough Dan (the largest natural lake in Leinster) a spectacular deep lake situated in a glaciated valley, it is one of last reserves of the Arctic Char Trout in the British Islands, while Blessington, to the west is a reservoir constructed in the 1930’s to generate electricity and supply Dublin City with water and offers both game and course fish, Lake fishing rates are based on two anglers sharing (maximum per boat). A substantial lunch to include hot and cold drinks will be provided along with life jackets and most flies & baits.
Fishing times are flexible to suit all needs. Rods and reels are available for hire. Lough Dan House is situated over 1000 feet up in the Wicklow Mountains bounded on 3 sides by the” National Park” on an hill farm overlooking the Lake, ten minutes by car from Roundwood or Glendalough, close to “The Wicklow Way”, it is the perfect location for fishing or walking holiday, in fact why not combine the two.
