WARNING: The Cliff Walk between Bray and Greystones has been temporarily closed due to a number of landslides. Parts of the walk have become unstable: some of the landslides are visible from the walk but others are not and are considered dangerous as those using the walk would not be aware of same. Wicklow County Council are currently working on a way to reopen the
Bray Head Cliff Walk and presently recommend the use of alternative routes such as the Bray Head Loop.
Bray Head Loop
The Bray Head Loop Walk is a great alternative to the Cliff Walk offering stunning views over the Irish Sea, Bray, the Dublin Bay and the Wicklow Mountains. The Loop is accessible from Bray Seafront up Bray Head to reach the Cross.
From Bray Head Cross, the trail continues south along the old Victoria trail above the train line below. Note – this is farmland and cattle may be grazing. Please keep dogs on a lead at all times.
South of Bray Head, the trail turns inland with great views of over Greystones , towards Lower Windgates at Ballynamuddagh Road. There is limited parking along the roadside here and hence it may be a preferred start point for those traveling by car.
The loop is completed by following the public footpath alongside the R761 for 1.5km back towards Bray and the roundabout on the Vevay Road.
NOTE: The trail up Bray Head is has suffered extensive erosion: proper footwear and caution is highly recommended.
