During a few weeks over the Summer of 2021, the village of Enniskerry in Wicklow, Ireland, was completely transformed into the Fairytale land for the movie Disenchanted. The experience was incredible for both the film crew and locals who came in their thousands to experience that magical land. See below a few videos and info on the locations.
Disenchanted Producer Barry Josephson says: “So much of the Disenchanted movie takes place in a world that Gisele has wished for, to make the movie special. It really required a very special setting! Ireland became the greatest proposition for how to make this fairy-tale come to life. We went from this beautiful village of Enniskerry, to beautiful Powerscourt Waterfall; every location was remarkable because there are so many places in Ireland that look like a fairytale as they are”
“It’s just breathtakingly beautiful: You see the woods, the fields and the architecture, all of that is very magical. It really lends itself to a fairy-tale life” says Hollywood Legend Patrick Dempsey, who plays Robert in Disenchanted. Patrick has been regularly coming to Wicklow.
The shoot took over the village of Enniskerry, transforming it into a magical land for a few weeks over the summer of 2021. The video below shows the excitement that the shoot brought to the village.
Director Adam Shankman adds: “We were lucky enough to have Enniskerry welcoming us and be so open about us legitimately taking over the entire little village and transforming it.
Maya Rudolph who plays Malvina explains how “even just driving by and seeing every little storefront in all the fun little names it’s just been so beautifully done. I feel like I got in on a little secret of such an incredible place and I’ve just fallen in love. It feels like a fairytale!
Disenchanted is a sequel of the movie Enchanted, where fifteen years after, Giselle questions her happiness, inadvertently turning the lives of those in the real world and Andalasia upside down in the process. Disenchanted is now available on streaming on Netflix.
