The Armoury café is steeped in history.

Located in the Glencree Barracks, constructed in response to the 1798 Rebellion and subsequently
converted for use as a Reformatory School, the complex was later briefly used to house German and
Polish child refugees fleeing mainland Europe during the Second World War. In response to the
‘Troubles’ in Northern Ireland, the Glencree Centre for Peace  & Reconciliation was founded. Soak
up the details of Glencree’s special history displayed in the Armoury’s operation
shamrock exhibition.

Handcrafted selection of cakes and patisserie are the norm, warm scones smothered
with local jam and cream, sandwiches, wraps, and ciabattas prepared as you like
them, our ever-popular breakfast served into the afternoon. Our lunch menu changes
with the seasons and heart-warming gluten and dairy free soups also available. All can
be done for takeaway if you fancy a picnic up the hills or immerse yourself in the
beautiful surrounds of the Glencree valley on our outdoor terrace. Stroll down to the
burbling stream in the Grotto, explore the German cemetery, enjoy the beauty of
nature, often forgotten in the rush of our busy lives.

Armoury opening hours are 9.30 to 17.30. The Café is Licensed, so enjoy a pint of
Guinness, or a glass of wine with your meal, and a full range of barista coffees are on
offer. We are wheelchair friendly. We also have an interesting craft shop, which holds
an array of art, craft, homemade honeys, jams, trinkets and presents, and we are
always on the lookout for local artisan suppliers!

We are ten minutes’ drive up from the picturesque village of Enniskerry, or if you are
coming from Dublin, 15 minutes from the Firhouse M50 exit, just follow the beautiful
Military road(R115) across the Featherbeds. Armoury café Glencree is the ideal secure
and spacious location for Families, cyclists to take time out, hillwalkers to chat, coffee
morning meet ups, or escape with just you and your thoughts, cake and a coffee and
the mountains.
