This trail begins at the Laragh Car Park, open daily from 8 am to 8 pm. Located next to the Woollen Mills and GAA Grounds, the car park is secured by staff and provides excellent access for hill walkers. It is also conveniently near local amenities and various food options.
From the Laragh Car Park, hikers cross over the Derrybawn bridge and pass the Glendalough Woollen Mill. Hikers can stop in and find some rustic, Wicklow gifts here before continuing their hike and walking beneath the attached porch. From here, hikers can continue straight and avail of a direct route to the Monastic City. Alternatively, we recommend veering left, which leads you along a high forest road offering views over the entire Glendalough Valley. Be sure to stop at the viewing platform for an enhanced perspective of the area.
After enjoying the views, hikers can proceed to crossing the bridge prior to descending alongside the Poulanass Waterfall. This trail guides you down towards the Green Road, eventually returning you to the car park through majestic oak forests. This complete loop trail covers approximately 8 km, making it a suitable option for various skill levels.
