Coolalingo is located in the heart of the Glenmalure Valley and is within 150 metres of the Wicklow Way. A small farm holding adjoins the bed and breakfast which consists of a few paddocks that lead down to the Avonbeg River. The Ballyboy Brook runs along the western boundary line of the property and divides it from the Glenmalure Lodge car park.
The bed and breakfast has five bedrooms in total, each with an ensuite. A range of different sized rooms allows flexibility for groups of up to four people sharing a room. Tea and coffee are served on arrival at the house and are also available anytime downstairs upon request.
An evening meal can be secured at the Glenmalure Lodge which is just 50 metres away from Coolalingo. During the Summer, there are occasional Traditional Irish Music sessions in the pub in the evening, which provide great entertainment after walking for the day.
Wicklow Way walkers that are looking to take a break from the trail, and try something more challenging, can climb Lugnaquillia. This is the highest mountain in the province and requires a lot of experience with map reading and use of a compass as there are no signposted trails here. A packed lunch can be made up at Coolalingo for the day.
After a long day’s walk, visitors can sit and relax in Coolalingo’s garden and enjoy the views. There are several horses and two donkeys in the paddocks behind the house. Guests are welcome to feed the animals, once they remain behind the fence. Three friendly dogs also wander around the environs of house and love to get any attention they can!
