This prize-winning garden, situated on the banks of the Vartry River has a spectacular display of oriental poppies in May and June. Many other interesting perennials are featured in box-edged borders. Trees and shrubs include magnolias, rhododendron, specimens, lirodendron, nothofagus, eucryphias, podocarpus, abutilon, fremontedendron, ginkgo, paulownia etc. The large kitchen garden provides fruit and vegetables for the hotel.

Directions: From Dublin take Exit 15 off N11 signposted for Ashford. Turn left at the bridge in Ashford. Hunter’s is situated 2km from Ashford at end of the road. From Wexford take Exit 16 off N11 for Ashford. Turn right at the bridge in Ashford.

Open: All year round from 10am to dusk

Admission: Voluntary donation to Irish Cancer Society.
