Wicklow County Tourism with the support of Failte Ireland has commissioned a series of videos to showcase the sport of Trail Running.
The videos follow journalist and first-time trail runner, Siobhan O’Connor, on her journey to THE EcoTrail Wicklow event that will take place on the 24th September.
Siobhan stated: “There was a genuine apprehension when I accepted to sign up for EcoTrail Wicklow. But after the various shoots, I realised that trail running is very different than road running, and it’s ok to combine walking and jogging along the route. The focus is very much on enjoying the journey rather than the finish-line. Trail Running offers a fantastic workout, in stunning sceneries: who needs a gym?”
Fred Verdier, Manager of Wicklow Tourism added: “Through those videos, we wanted to show how accessible the sport is. Trail Running is not dedicated just to elite runners, but to anyone with a minimum level of fitness. Wicklow and Ireland offer a perfect year-round playground for the sport, and we hope that the videos will inspire people to take on the sport and enjoy the many trails around Wicklow.”
The first two episodes are available online at links below while the last episode will follow Siobhan on race day and should be released shortly after the event.
