The Ambassador Pin is a beautiful idea!
Riccardo travelled from Italy to Ireland this summer, embarking on an unforgettable journey with the Wicklow Passport. He biked around Wicklow, exploring the scenic, heritage, and historical sites. During his trips, he also gathered 16 Wicklow Passport stamps and became a Wicklow Ambassador. After his journey, we got in touch with Riccardo to find out more about his travels, experiences, and suggestions for other Wicklow Passport travellers.
How did you find out about the Wicklow Passport?
I learned about the passport from a friend who has visited Ireland many times.
What inspired you to take on the challenge of the Wicklow Passport?
I wanted to cycle and camp through an area rich with ancient finds.
What was your favourite experience while taking part in the campaign?
The best experience was cycling along the old military road and camping out in nature. I also enjoyed the stone circles and monastery ruins.
Also, the Ambassador Pin is a beautiful idea!
What was the least enjoyable part of your adventure?
Luckily, I did not have any bad experiences during my time with the Passport.
Do you have any advice for people who want to embark on a similar adventure?
The Visit Wicklow website has everything that you might need to know.
Having a detailed map of the military road, secondary roads and paths, including indications for walking or cycling, could also be a great help.
Looking back on the journey, is there anything you would have done differently?
Fortunately, I found that my planned travel route was perfect.
Did you enjoy the challenge overall?
Yes, I really enjoyed it.
What is your next adventure going to be?
It will be in Ireland, maybe in the West Coast of the country.
