Time Running Out this Season to Experience Wicklow Town Heritage Trail

September 26

There are just 7 Saturdays left this year to discover 1,500 Years of History and experience the highly acclaimed Wicklow Town Heritage Trail This Season!

Both international travellers, domestic holidaymakers and locals are invited to step back in time and uncover the hidden secrets of Wicklow Town’s Heritage and history before the seasonal Saturday tours conclude at the end of September.

Whether you are a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or a family looking for a memorable weekend excursion, this trail brings Wicklow Town’s vibrant coastal past to life in a way you won’t forget. The trail starts every Saturday morning at 11am sharp from outside the Fáilte Ireland Tourist Office in the heart of Wicklow Town.

Established in 2021, this captivating, less than 2 hour guided walking tour has rapidly grown from strength to strength, earning rave reviews on TripAdvisor from visitors worldwide. Led by passionate volunteer guides, the tour offers an immersive journey through time—chronicling everything from the dramatic arrival of St. Patrick in 432 AD and fierce Viking invasions to the maritime exploits of Captain Robert Halpin and the birth of the Irish Free State in 1922.

An unmissable addition for 2026, this season, tourists can experience the trail’s newest highlight: the beautifully restored Abbey Grounds Park. This stunning oasis weaves historical ruins with lush green spaces, quickly becoming a favourite stop for visitors to capture spectacular photos and enjoy a relaxing post-tour coffee.

“With only seven Saturdays remaining until the curtain falls on our 2026 season, there is no better time to experience the magic of Wicklow Town,” says Pascal Burke, Heritage Trail Co-ordinator. “

Don’t let the season slip away! Gather your fellow travellers and secure your Saturday morning plans to experience one of County Wicklow’s top-rated cultural attractions. For more information, maps, and travel inspiration, visit www.wicklowtown.ie
