
Wicklow County Arts Office has commissioned, collaborated and supported an exciting programme of events and activities in several locations across the county to celebrate Culture Night which returns on Friday, 19th September.
This free programme of happenings showcases a diverse range of events purposefully selected to open up pathways to creativity.
Events include:
- An Evening Miscellany – Celebrating local culture. Featuring music/song, writings , visuals, historical and folklore presentations.
- Block Printing Workshop with Susie Fortune from White Doodle Art.
- Bray Travellers CDG Photography and Cultural Exhibition – A combination of Women’s Group photography and youth development work on display.
- Culture Night at Bray Library with children’s author Natasha Mac a’Bhaird – examine clues, interview suspects and solve a mystery.
- Classical music concert in Calary Church – Andrew Sheeran and Catiriona Finnegan with play a classical music concert.
- Cora Venus Lunny & Jane Clarke – Culture Night Music Under the Mountains.
- Rattle & Hum U2 Tribute Band in Bray.
- The Only Ones – Denis Morrissey and his brother Ed play together in Bray.
- Culture Night Portrait Marathon – Conor Walton will paint 18 portraits over 12 hours a the Arklow Arts Centre.
- Drop-in Storytelling with a theme of Myths and Legends in Bray
- Flooded in collaboration with Shaking Bog and The Jam Sessions – Bray
- Jazz at St Saviours Church Rathdrum
- Kaleidoscope: A Day of Art, Music, Poetry, Film and Food and Arklow Arts Centre.
- LightMotion – a joyful, inclusive dance performance and community interaction piece.
- Dance Workshop with Drum Nature and guests in Blessington.
- Paddy Casey – Live at Germaine’s Baltinglass.
- Stephanie Behan Soprano – Baltinglass.
- Storytelling for Children aged 8+ years at Blessington Library.
- The The Island of Saints – an hour of baroque and traditional Irish Music with the Barn Ensemble.
- Traditional Music at Greystones Library.
- Traditional Music, song and storytelling at Timmins Bar – Baltinglass.
- Unison – a night of camaraderie, friendship and joy with 11 guitars and 11 voices – Tinahely.
- Wicklow and Arklow Ukulele Players – a fun evening of well known music and songs – Wicklow Town.
All events are free and people are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
