Timmy Mallett Visits Wicklow
Renowned British TV presenter and artist Timmy Mallett has been cycling along Ireland’s coastline as part of his “Utterly Brilliant Ireland” tour, documenting his travels on social media throughout the journey.
A familiar face from the 1980s and 1990s, Timmy rose to fame as the presenter of The Wide Awake Club and Wacaday. He also achieved a number one hit single and appeared on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!.
During his visit to County Wicklow, Timmy created a series of stunning watercolour paintings featuring local landmarks such as The Black Castle, Five Mile Point, Wicklow Head and the view from his room at Hunter’s Hotel. He also took the time to visit The Pyramid and Stone Arch Bridge in Arklow town, several places around Wicklow Town including a visit to the RNLI lifeboat station where he had fun with the crew. He met up with local artist Pat Davis who has done over 70 murals of ships on the Old Pier and made time to stop in Newcastle Village, as well as at The Carlisle Grounds in Bray.
Michelle from the Tourism Office met with Timmy and gifted him a Visit Wicklow buff and passport as a memento of his time in County Wicklow.
