“Screen Wicklow” as the main theme for the day
Wicklow is one of the most popular filming locations thanks to its breath-taking natural scenery, including lush mountains, dramatic coastlines, and ancient forests. Since the 1980’s, there has welcomed top movie productions and has been the natural set of international blockbusters such as the recent Netflix TV series of the Vikings, and the global sensation that is ‘Wednesday’.
In order to help explore the various opportunities behind screen tourism, Wicklow County Council has invited Liz Steele from Tourism Northern Ireland to make a presentation at the networking event on the 29th of April. Northern Ireland has hosted many multi-award winning film and TV productions in recent years, including Game of Thrones and Derry Girls. Liz manages the team that has been involved in various projects developed to maximise the opportunities from screen tourism.
