Wicklow and its attractions have been highlighted in the popular international TV show “Ireland in Music Part 2”.
This highly acclaimed national and international TV show is celebrating music with strong heritage links to Irish Culture.
It will be aired in Ireland on Easter Monday, 18th April on RTE, and then is set to air throughout the world and feature two County Wicklow-based performances featured in the show.
Originally from Bray, the band Wyvern Lingo performed on the shore of the Upper Lake at Glendalough in the middle of the amazing settings of the National Park. Winners of Irish Traditional Album of the Year 2016, the Mulcahy Family played in the Gardens of Powerscourt and were joined by traditional dancer Ryan Owens.
“Ireland in Music Part” is currently enjoying significant international success, with several TV broadcasts during the St Patrick’s Day period across Australia on SPS and in the United States on New York PBS station WLIW21 and the arts and culture streaming app and TV channel ALL ARTS.
Mr Brian Gleeson, Chief Executive, Wicklow County Council, said: “It really is a fantastic opportunity for Wicklow to be part of such successful show. Ireland in Music part 1 achieved an estimated 5 million of total global viewership airing on TV stations across 41 countries around the world.”
Cllr Tommy Annesley, Leas Cathaoirleach, Wicklow County Council, commented: “The two Wicklow performances feature some great drone footage of the Glendalough Valley and Powerscourt Gardens and House and from a tourism perspective, it is a tremendous opportunity to attract international visitors to come to Wicklow.”
