Dantes, a sailor who is falsely accused of treason by his best friend Fernand, who wants Dantes’ girlfriend Mercedes for himself. Dantes is imprisoned on the island prison of Chateau d’If for 13 years, where he plots revenge against those who betrayed him. Locations: Majority of the scenic filming was done in County Wicklow. The scene in which Dantes washes up on a beach after his escape from prison is on Silver Strand beach. While the party that Dantes hosts as his home for his new arrival as a Count is Powerscourt Estate. The fight scene between Guy Pearce and James Caviezel was filmed near Slane, Co. Kildare.
