The 4.2m high cross at Blessington Village Cemetery known as St Mark’s Cross, was previously known as St Boaithin’s cross up until the nineteenth century.

The tall blue-gray granite cross was moved to its present location from Burgage more, where it was in danger of being submerged during flooding of the Liffey Valley for a hydroelectric power scheme. The cross has an unpierced ring and the only decoration is a single boss on the east and west faces at the centre of the head .

The boss being at the centre of the head represents Christ at the centre of the universe, the sun disc represents the universe and in this instance is dominated by the cross. On the base of the cross is a weathered inscription believed to be in old irish.
