YOU CAN HELP!
In order to maximise the potential of this new campaign, Wicklow needs your support. Look at the various suggestions below, and help make Wicklow a great place to stay:
- USE THE HASHTAG:
The more we use the #WakeUpInWicklow, the more exposure we give to our campaign and tagline. Through this hashtag, we want to harness and maximise the power of social media to help promote Wicklow. Each of us have a network of friends who themselves have their own network. We are asking Wicklow residents, visitors, businesses to post photos or videos using the hashtag and tag wicklow tourism (Facebook: @wicklowtourism – Twitter: @visitwicklow – Instagram: @visitwicklow).
- GET A PROP
Get a prop with the hashtag and invite visitors to take a photo and share it on their social media. Incentivise by giving a prize/discount/freebie when used. Have them tag your business and Wicklow Tourism if possible.
- GIVE PRIZES
Offering prize will help us increase interaction on social media, as well as support the work of the PR agency. We need prizes for our weekly social media competition; We need good prizes for our monthly competition; We need prizes for our PR Campaign.
- OFFER MEDIA EXPERIENCES
Our PR company is working at bringing journalists to Wicklow and needs accommodation, visits and activities experiences. Any free stay, dinner, activity, visit will help the PR company to land exposure on national and international press. There is tremendous exposure to be won from this.
- SHARE PHOTOS AND STORIES
Social media works best with an image and a story. Please share any story and images you think might land exposure on social media. See below sample story for Powerscourt Waterfall:
“In 1821, in anticipation of King George IV’s visit, the waterfall was dammed and a viewing platform created for the King to see the falls at their most spectacular. After banqueting all day at the house, the King was too full to visit the waterfall. It was just as well as the power of the water collapsed the dam and washed the platform clean away!
