DONARD

Donard is a pretty village at the northern end of Glen of
Imaal. The place is associated with Michael Dwyer, the
cottage in which he fought the encircling British troops in
1799 and escaped over the snow-covered mountains is situated
here. To get a good view of the Glen, travel to the Donard-Davidstown
road, but be careful if walking as much or the Glen (5948
acres) has been used as an army artillery range since 1900.
