County Wicklow wins 1st Place and Gold Medal at the 2012 Livcom Awards in Al Ain City in the United Arab Emirates.
Having been selected to the final of this prestigious award, County Wicklow won in the category C (population from 75,001 to 150,000) over the following locations: Putrajaya, Malaysia – Yingge District, New Taipei City, Chinese Taipei – Singying District, Tainan City, Chinese Taipei – Broadland, Norfolk, England – Masdar City, United Arab Emirates.
Included in the presentation was a stunning four minutes video that showcased the connection between Wicklow’s amazing sceneries and its people.
The Livcom Awards were launched in 1997 and are endorsed by the United Nations Environment Programme, (UNEP), with which it shares a Memorandum of Understanding. The LivCom Awards is the World’s only Awards Competition focussing on International Best Practice regarding the management of the local environment. The objective of LivCom is to develop and share International Best Practice, with the further objective of improving the quality of life of individual citizens through the creation of ‘liveable communities’.
