Blessington is one of the biggest towns in West Wicklow. Beside the Blessington Lakes and the Wicklow Mountains, Blessington is steeped in history. Around every corner there are buildings, statues, and relics of the past staring back at you. Some of the more noticeable features include the Credit Union House, Downshire Monument, Saint Mary’s Church of Ireland, and the Horseshoe Arch, all of which are found in the centre of town.

Lakeshore Heritage Trail

The Blessington Lakeside Heritage Project is an exciting initiative, developed by the Heritage Office of Wicklow County Council in association with local people in the Blessington area.
This trail covers a wealth of stories and folklore about local landmarks; Neolithic settlements, flooded villages; granite stone cutting traditions and the rebuilding of Dublin after the 1916 Rising
Russborough House

Russborough was built between 1741-1750 and is regarded as one of Ireland’s most beautiful houses. It has magnificent views of the Blessington Lakes and Wicklow Mountains .
Blessington Greenway

This walk links the historic town of Blessington with the Palladian mansion at Russborough House. The trail starts at Blessington and leads south along the shores of Blessington Lakes and through forest and natural woodland.
