Tinahely Men’s Shed is pleased to inform the itinerary for “Tinahely Men’s Shed sponsored Walk and Open Day on Saturday 16th June 2018 ” has now been finalized.
Tinahely Men’s Shed sponsored walk takes the route of Tinahely Loop C in a clockwise direction. It commences with registration at Tinahely Men’s Shed from 9.00am on Saturday 16th June 2018. The first part of the walk takes in Mangan’s Lane and later encompasses part of the Railway Walk. There is a mix of hill and flat walking and the scenery throughout spectacular. The walk finish point is Tinahely Community Hall on School Road which is beside the parking area in front of the GAA grounds and is only a moment’s walk from the Men’s Shed premises. The walk commences from 10.00am. It will take between 2 and 3 hours to complete the 10.2 kms. Experienced walk leaders supported by the Tinahely Walking Club take charge of the walk. Walkers are requested to respect health and safety and to wear appropriate footwear, clothing for walking the hills and on roads and to bring liquid and energy refreshment.
The cost of the walk is set at Euro 10 per adult and children will be free. Sponsorship cards will also be available in advance from the contact email: email@example.com for those who wish to support the day. The walk aims to raise the profile for Tinahely Men’s Shed, the National Men’s Shed of Ireland and recognise Men’s Health Week. It is hoped to maximise support and all contributions will be appreciated. Funds raised on the day will be used to improve the facilities and activities of the Men’s Shed at the Kelly’s Hill location.
Tea and refreshments kindly sponsored by Tinahely ICA will be provided to walkers on a complimentary basis in the community Hall when the walk is completed.
After the walk and refreshments all walkers are invited back to the Men’s Shed to receive their walk completion certificate and to view the facilities, meet the members, to enjoy the entertainment and to support the produce sale. It is planned to have a selection of produce from the shed garden and workshop on offer. There will be spot prizes given out at the Shed at this time to three lucky winners so everyone possible is encouraged to attend.
Tinahely Men’s Shed was setup late in 2016 and much work has been done by a small number of men to make good the derelict premises provided by Wicklow Co. Council. Tinahely Men’s Shed recognises it would not be possible to exist if it were not for the generous support received from sponsors in the area. Much good happens at the Shed and the men realise the importance of being active and contributing to the community efforts at Tinahely and within the family of Men’s Sheds throughout Ireland. There is much more work to be done to raise the profile and improve the facilities and services at Tinahely Men’s Shed. It is hoped the “Tinahely Men’s Shed sponsored Walk and Open Day on Saturday 16th June 2018” will help to progress the Men’s Shed position in Tinahely and Nationwide.
