The Writing Life: John Banville @ Mermaid Arts Centre Bray @ Mermaid Arts Centre

A giant of world fiction, John Banville is one of the finest prose writers of the last fifty years. His novel The Book of Evidence was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1989. In 2005 he won the award with The Sea. He has also won The James Tait black Memorial Award, The Guardian Fiction Prize, The Franz Kafka Prize and The Prince of Asturias Award for Literature. Under the pseudonym Benjamin Black, he has written seven crime novels featuring the brilliant pathologist, Quirke. Three of these have been adapted for TV and broadcast on the BBC.

In this special edition of The Writing Life, writer Philip St John will be talking to both Mr. Banville and Mr. Black about their work and life. Our guests will also discuss artefacts that have inspired their writing: books, music and photographs.

An evening of conversation not to be missed.
