Rut Watch @ Wicklow Mountains National Park @ Wicklow Mountains National Park | County Wicklow | Ireland

Wicklow has a large population of hybrid Sika deer. Every autumn the stags vie for females during the rut. We shall have telescopes set up by the bridge on the White walking trail, so that anyone passing can stop and watch the action.

Where: Glenealo footbridge, White Walking Trail, Glendalough

When: Sunday 14 October 11am to 4pm

Practicalities: Please be aware that there is a hike of 1½hrs to reach the telescopes. Please dress for the hills—wear good hiking boots and bring rain gear. Binoculars are also useful. NO DOGS, please. This event is free of charge but please be aware that the Upper Lake car park (Wicklow County Council) has a €4 charge for car parking.

Booking: No booking required. For more information, please phone the National Park Information Office 0404 45425

This event is organised by education staff based at Wicklow Mountains National Park who are employed by the National Parks & Wildlife Service under the aegis of Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
