Thousands of street cats proudly roam the streets of Istanbul. They visit restaurants and shops for scraps or a treat. They raise their kittens in hidden alcoves. Some of them even hunt rodents at night, much to the delight of local businesses. Kedi is a charming documentary about the lives of the feline population in Turkey’s largest city. But it’s also a portrait of Istanbul and its human inhabitants. This is a film for all cat lovers – and it might even create a few new ones.
