Introductory Hike @ Clara Vale

Hike with Des Houlihan for this great introduction to hiking.

Clara Vale, near Laragh is a forest walk through Coillte managed woods. The forest is not just pine but also a mixture of hardwood deciduous trees and is particularly spectacular in Autumn.

The walk also visits the quaint Clara Church & Bridge. There are a number of trails in Clara which allows the walks be shortened or extended based on the ability of the walkers or the prevailing weather conditions.

Because there is very little climbing or ascent involved this is a ideal walk for people new to hiking or hill-walking. As all the hike is on trails and is pretty sheltered there is no need for expensive boots but comfortable trail shoes can be worn.

This is primarily a forest walk for everyone.

Meeting in front of Lynhams in Laragh @ 9.45am. Des will be wearing a brightly coloured bandana so you can’t miss him.
