Walk Route Scarr and Kanturk

​​Hike with Brian Fennessy – Parking at Old Bridge, we will make our way along a quiet country lane, before entering into mixed forest for a short section before coming out onto open mountain side. We will see Lough Dan from a totally different view point.

Slowly we will make our way up onto the shoulder of Kanturk where the ground levels out and is easy walking, taking in Kanturks unusally knobbled summit.

We have great views of Tonlagee and also Mullaghcleevaun, Wicklow’s 2nd highest summit.

Heading south the ground starts to rise and when we look right we can see the Glenmacnass river running into the Glenmacnass Waterfall. Slowly making our way up to the summit of Scarr where we have views towards Glendalough Valley, Trooperstown Hill, Djouce and as far as the Great Sugarloaf.

From the top of Scarr we continue along heading down towards some woodland before meeting the Wicklow Way and back to our cars.

Moderate/Hard walk, some fitness required depending ón group the route can be shortened.
