Painting outdoors is wonderful, but one of the great challenges of plein air work is knowing how to gather sufficient information in a limited timeframe.  Factoring in  the lack of controlled lighting and changing weather conditions, things can get frustrating quickly for both experienced and inexperienced artist alike.

In this two day intensive workshop, Rob will introduce a simple and effective approach to capture a landscape effect in a short period of time.

Basic elements of landscape painting will be covered such as: how to use your materials in the easiest and most efficient manner, how to select a subject, and how to develop a study from start to finish.  Zeller will explain the use of thumbnail drawings to design a composition and then turn these thumbnails  into oil painting.

The class is open to beginning through advanced artists but some previous drawing experience is highly recommended.

This really will be a ‘Welcome to Enniskerry, the Garden of Ireland’ plein air dream. Enniskerry has much to offer, this is a unique situation for International travels who wish to embrace an art practice experience. The ‘Schoolhouse for Art’ is located in the heart of a small victorian village, it is overlooked by the town clock. It is nestled at the foot of the Wicklow and Dublin mountains to the west, and to the Irish sea to the East. Forest, open fields, cultivated gardens, mountains rivers and waterfall are all accessible. After you complete Rob’s workshop take a few days to put your learning into an entire holiday experience.
